Going Hungry

While coverage continues of Kiribati President Anote Tong’s comments in New Zealand yesterday, other headlines are less widely circulated.

Food shortages on Papua New Guinea’s Carteret Islands are apparently coming to a head. To learn more about why, follow our previously posted link. As you might guess, the Carteret Islanders problem is neither unique, new or local.

On the bright side, congratulations to H.E. Colin Beck, Solomon Islands’ Permanent Representative to the United Nations, who has been elected one of the Vice Presidents for the 63rd Session of the United Nations General Assembly.
