What Matters

Islands First friends Gary Braasch and Bill McKibben are featured in David Elliot Cohen’s new book – a series of photo-essays about the most crucial issues we face today. You can guess what comes first.

From Gary:

As you can see from the cover, global warming — in the symbolic image inside a melting ice cave in Antarctiva — is the leading issue covered. I join Bill McKibben in a 20-page photo essay. Then What Matters turns to 19 other famed photojournalists including James Natchwey, Gilles Peress, Paul Fusco and Magnum members to cover issues including water, oil addiciton and drought. I hope you may be able to use this book to educate or fundraise about the issues that concern you.

An e-copy of the book is available at the web site, so be sure to check it out.

We cannot yet, however, visit museums online, so we’ll have to count on our Australian friends or their visitors to let us know about what’s up at the Immigration Museum in Melbourne. Please be sure and report back on the exhibit Waters of Tuvalu: A Nation at Risk sometime before its closing on November 16.
